Welcome To PyroPlaques
Pyrography (py•rog•ra•phy) or “Woodburning” is the art or technique of decorating wood or leather by burning a design on the surface with a heated metallic point.
Welcome to PyroPlaques, a unique and modern touch to wooden art. With wood burning, staining & paint, you will find the one of a kind piece of art that you are looking for.
I started wood burning with my grandfather decades ago. Never did much with it but I had those memories.
When I was in the U.S. Navy, I had a bad ankle injury that basically had me on bed rest for almost two weeks.
My girlfriend at the time was talking to me, discussing some ideas on what to do to pass the time.
I remembered those afternoons with my grandfather and decided that was it!
So she went by the local hobby store and bought me a Wood Burning Pen. It wasn’t anything fancy but it was all I needed!
Over the years I studied tattoo artists as I was getting tattoos(sounds weird, but it works), watched YouTube videos, and tested many different techniques.
After testing probably around twenty or so tips for my wood burning pen and different techniques, I found a talent and a strong passion for the art of pyrography.
Most frequent questions and answers
I plan on recording the majority of the time but if a client requests for the piece to remain private I will honor their request.
Unfortunately because of the way this art works, there are times I am unable to burn specific images. I request that you contact me for custom work before placing a custom order. We owe it to eachother to be sure we are a right fit and if we should work together or not.
How big of a check can you write? Lol … I like to stay with the 12” plaques for most of my artwork but sometimes it is best to work with a larger canvas. Most pieces will be priced based on the estimated time for completion at $125/hour plus the cost of the canvas/piece of wood used.
Of course you can request anything but I will have to consider it based of if I think I can sell it and if I would enjoy doing it. 🙂
I’m always open to help but honestly, it is always on a case by case basis.
My mission is to uplift, inspire, and entertain people with my pyrography art and other content.
My vision is to use my art to inspire and help bring back an almost lost art.
I Love It!
